sports massage & Tools training

Course Summary

This course reframes the definition of “athletes" to include a range of active adults, from elite performers to “weekend warriors”, so massage therapists can offer therapeutic benefits to clients in a variety of environments, such as spas & massage clinics, fitness centers and professional athletic clubs. Participants will evaluate pathological or physiological issues that can limit an athlete’s abilities. Participants will learn different approaches to treating the body tissue, including tools clients can take home to continue treatment, resulting in enhanced performance, increased functional mobility and decreased injury before, during and after sporting events.

Upcoming Training Dates:

10/16/25 - 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Learning Objectives

At this end of this training, participants will be able to...

  1. Determine the specific origin of the pain or restriction to increase the sessions’ efficacy.
  2. Use clinical reasoning to provide bodywork appropriate for the type of athlete and where they are in their training cycle.
  3. Utilize techniques to alleviate muscular and connective tissue restrictions using the least amount of effort for the practitioner.
  4. Recommend props and tools that clients can use at home to accentuate their treatment.
